In this article we’re going to review one of the greatest concerts in the history of modern music, the Concert For Bangladesh.
The Concert For Bangladesh was held on August 1, 1971, at Madison Square Garden in the greatest city in the world, New York. To the youth of the time it was just another concert. But as history goes, it may very well go down as one of the greatest events in mankind’s.
The brains behind the concert was ex Beatle, George Harrison, who had become very much into causes after the group split up. In this case, the cause was the people of Bangladesh, who were literally starving to death. The concert was put on in the hopes of bringing some hope to a dying region of the world.
Bangladesh had a troubled history. The events leading up to this concert are as follows.

Posted by admin in bangladesh on March 18, 2011
When Bangladesh were named co-hosts of ICC World Cup 2011, replacing Pakistan, their fans at home were euphoric. The elevation to co-hosting the tournament appeared perfectly justified given Bangladesh’s consistent improvement as an ODI team in the four years since they beat India at the 2007 World Cup. Placed in a competitive Group B, it was evident that Shakib Al Hasan’s men would have to fight hard to win a place in the quarter-finals.
But home fans were confident from the start that their team would achieve the quarter-final slot that they considered was rightfully theirs. The loss to India in their opening game did not dim their enthusiasm. Any other result would have been an upset, given India’s favourites tag at the tournament. And the manner of Bangladesh batsmen’s spirited response to a daunting target of 376 showed a glimpse of the team’s great potential.
Bangladesh then went on to beat Ireland and kept themselves on course. But when the team lost to the West Indies, collapsing to an abject 58 all out, in the process, their fans gave vent to their frustration and stoned the buses carrying the players of the teams off the ground after the game ended.
